In Butterfly Dreams, GRACE MCGUIVER arrives in the Azores Islands of Portugal to do her dissertation research. To get to the island of São Jorge, she travels on an ancient cargo boat auspiciously named the Holy Ghost. Little does she know, her arrival sets  a series of deadly events into motion that implicate her.

Grace feels ill prepared professionally for what awaits and poorly equipped emotionally to deal with life as a single woman in a strongly patriarchal culture. She soon discovers unknown foes and accusers who wish her ill, one of them alledgedly a witch. In the meantime, her love life back home is falling apart.  Two local men vie for her affections, giving islanders reason to gossip about her loose American ways. Grace’s search for a resolution to her problems and redemption for unintended sins leads to friendship, romance, mystery, and magic.

Anne McClard's Novel Margaux & the Vicious Circle
Forthcoming, Fall of 2024
Coming in september:
In Margaux and the Vicious Circle, MARGAUX ANDREWS, an aspiring young writer living in lower Manhattan, pens a semi-autobiographical novel. The novel documents her traumatic early childhood in Colorado, including the unresolved disappearance of a friend from the apartment complex where her family lived. After sending more than one hundred queries, she faces a trove of rejections, with agents criticizing the story’s believability.

Just as hope dims, Margaux receives a surprising response. Her one hundredth-and-thirty-something attempt yields an offer of representation from the esteemed M. Des Jardins Literary Agency. In the publishing world, people know the Agency for its historic connections to members of the legendary Vicious Circle. With this letter, more than opportunity unfolds; it leads to a series of events and discoveries that alter Margaux’s understanding of her past and redefine her future.
